Sundog Eyewear Congratulates Ellie Greenwood’s record-breaking JFK 50 WIN and epic 2012
Williamsport, MD: Sundog Eyewear proudly congratulates Genuine Performer® Ellie Greenwood on her record-breaking victory in the 50th anniversary running of the JFK 50, the oldest and largest ultra marathon in the U.S. and one of the most prestigious in the sport.
Under sunny skies Greenwood, wearing her Sundog Eyewear DIALED Mela-Lens® sunglasses, completed the 50 mile course from Boonsboro to Williamsport in 6 hours, 11 minutes shattering the previous female record by an astounding 18 minutes. Not only was the 33-year-old resident of North Vancouver, BC, the first female athlete over the finish line, Greenwood finished 10th overall in a field of 1,000 of the finest runners the celebrated event had ever attracted. She is the first non-American to win the event.
Greenwood’s historic win in Maryland capped another record-breaking season for the native of Dundee, Scotland. In 2012, Greenwood destroyed the record at the Western States 100 miles race by more then 49 minutes, and broke the Chuckanut 50 Km record by seven minutes.Ellie also won the Ultra Race of Champions 100 km, the CCC 100 km, the American River 50 miler, the White River 50 miler, the Squamish 50 miler, the Edmonton Marathon, the BMO Vancouver Marathon, and finished second in both the Virgin London Marathon and the Comrades 89 Km race.
